WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
"A Hand Up Not a Hand Out"
HELPING HANDS Thrift Store is located in Celina, Clay County, TN. We are dedicated to raising funds and providing our community with services to help those in need. Through our thrift store and our various outreach programs we offer unique volunteer opportunities for those in our county who are looking for a challenge and a chance to help as well.
HOW WE HELP
It Starts With the Will to Make a Difference
Since our inception, we’ve worked around the clock to expand our causes and help those who need our help. Every contribution goes toward making our world a better place, so if you’re looking to contribute a donation or your time, please get in touch today. Making a positive difference has never been so easy.
REQUESTING YOUR SUPPORT
Our current projects need your help to succeed
The Clay County Helping Hands Thrift Store has a fairly diverse inventory right now. Unfortunately, the merchandise is difficult to display because we do not have the appropriate merchandising supplies and products. Please see the items below and contact us if you can assist with donations to meet any of these needs.
STORE FIXTURES
Items such as clothes display racks (rounders, half rounds, 4 ways, 2 ways), hangers, jewelry displays, cube spinners for linens and other foldable items, tables for sale or special pieces, etc., will all help in organizing the store and maximizing space. This, in turn will help to increase sales as items will be easier to access and clearly seen.

Organization will also aid in keeping track of inventory and help to provide a clear guide for where items that come in belong. Making all of these improvements will make it a joy for shoppers and volunteer sales staff alike. This will help assure that our customers will return, satisfied with their purchases. It will aid in keeping volunteers interested with a feeling of satisfaction in the belief that they are truly accomplishing something worthwhile.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
Materials to help put up peg board and shelving on walls so that the space may be better organized in order to provide space planning which will optimize sales. We could also use the assistance of local handyman types to help with the construction and installation of the above items.

By increasing sales we create more funding for programs to assist those in our community who find themselves in a place of need.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Every store needs a check out counter so they have space for a cash register, bags, signs and brochures, and general work space. There is also the need for all of the accessories such as the register, the bags, sign and brochure holders, Jewelry displays, and other little touches that mean so much.

Additionally, HELPING HANDS Thrift store has some unique needs that present themselves because of the nature of our business. We service a number of elderly and handicapped folks, especially on the pantry and perishables days. To that end it would be very nice to be able to provide a few comfortable chairs so that they have a place to sit if they get winded.

FOOD PANTRY
HELPING HANDS Thrift Store opens the Food Pantry on the second Friday of each month. If you, or someone you know is in a difficult spot we will be glad to assist them with one box of food per family. Distributions begins at 12:00 pm in the Celina store.
We also provide emergency food for those who have a need and are unable to make the Friday schedule. These emergency rations are available once every 30 days per family and may be limited by food in the pantry at the time of the request.
PERISHABLES
On the third Thursday of each month HELPING HANDS Thrift Store hosts Second Harvest's distribution of perishables at 12:15 pm. This is open to all members of our Clay County community. No signup necessary.

You should plan to be in line at the thrift store for 15-20 minutes as we filter everyone through the line of produce, milk, bread, bakery treats and other perishable food items. There is always a variety and what we have changes monthly.
